The US High Speed Rail Association is led by a team of seasoned professionals who are dedicated to the development and promotion of a national high speed rail network for America.  
 
Andy Kunz  President & CEO

Mr. Kunz is the founder and sets the vision and direction for the US High Speed Rail Association (USHSR). A long time high speed rail advocate, Mr. Kunz brings 30 years of successful business experience to USHSR - and provides senior leadership and an ambitious vision for sustainable transportation in America. This vision includes a 17,000 mile national high speed rail network built in phases and slated for completion by 2030.  

Mr. Kunz is a national award-winning designer with a background in urban design, community planning, landscape architecture, and sustainability.  He has designed a wide variety of projects including a number of new towns and transit oriented developments. Mr. Kunz travels widely and has served as an expert in a number of forums. He speaks extensively at leading conferences and events on transportation and planning topics, and has provided keynote presentations on high speed rail and sustainability in international conferences in numerous countries (most recently Paris, Amsterdam, China, Spain, Canada, etc.).

Mr. Kunz has appeared on NPR, CNBC, Fox News, The Weather Channel, and the Bill Press Show. Mr. Kunz has been interviewed and/or quoted in numerous publications including the New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times, Global News, China Daily, Time Magazine, Huffington Post, and others. As an authority on high speed rail, Mr. Kunz is committed to further developing USHSR and the high speed rail network in America.

Mr. Kunz holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and a Master of Urban Design from the University of Miami.
 
Joseph Shelhorse  Vice President, Member Services

Mr. Shelhorse is dedicated to enhancing the experience of USHSR’s members and growing the market for high speed rail in America. In this role, he also works to expand the rail P3 market, and to attract private investment of all types. Mr. Shelhorse also develops programs that bring together leaders in rail, finance, and Transit Oriented Development. Mr. Shelhorse also works to attract new members whose dues and contributions provide the single largest amount of support for our programs and operations.

Mr. Shelhorse has 30 years of extensive business management experience in the real estate and construction industry. His diverse background includes involvement on a number of large, complex construction projects directly relating to the extensive infrastructure needs of the US high speed rail network.

Mr. Shelhorse holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute, and is a LEED accredited professional.
 
Steve Skemp  Director of Marketing and Partnerships

Mr. Skemp manages external affairs for the US High Speed Rail Association (USHSR), including marketing efforts, event coordination, and outreach to partner organizations. Prior to joining USHSR, Mr. Skemp established HD Canvas Media LLC, a multimedia marketing firm providing communications strategy & content creation for small business, tech corporations & non-profit organizations.

Prior to that, Mr. Skemp was Membership Director for the US-ASEAN Business Council, which represents the interests of the US corporate community in Southeast Asia. Mr. Skemp’s career began on Capitol Hill working several years for the United States Senate.

Mr. Skemp graduated from Georgetown University with honors in International Business Diplomacy, European Studies, & Science/Technology Policy.
